Slnečnice is a winner with the experts
We have won the prestigious architecture award Arch 2013
Slnečnice succeeded at the 16th annual prestigious architectural competition Cena Arch - an international jury composed of renowned experts in architecture awarded 1st place to the Slnečnice housing complex. Of all the nominated projects from all over Slovakia, Slnečnice impressed by their concept of using common areas and through a well-thought-out connection of details into a functional and practical unit. These elements create a model example of urban housing and offer the inhabitants a great place for living. We are glad that our efforts are confirmed in the experts’ own words:
Juraj Šujan, a member of the Managing Board of the Slovak Chamber of Architects, winner of many architectural awards and a lecturer at STU in Bratislava:
“We all agreed that Slnečnice is an excellent project. I emphasised the space they create, not only outside but also inside the house. ”
The editor-in-chief of the ARCH magazine, the architect Andrea Bacová justified the choice of Slnečnice from the viewpoint of suburbanisation which, according to her, does not move in the right direction in Slovakia and these locations do not have many quality designs.
“I would like to highlight Slnečnice here. It is a positive example of how it can be done. It possesses the quality that meets our expectations in this segment. Although it has a standard pattern, it is certainly worth following. The Slnečnice concept also works consistently with public space.”
The Austrian architect Dieter Henke also considers Slnečnice to be a good project with excellent public spaces:
“I consider the fact that the investor did not implement front yards a great advantage as this has created a public space that is valued by all the residents. And that is very important in residential neighbourhoods.”
